ACT UP "Silence=Death," 1987

QUEER

GRAPHIC

DESIGN

PROJECT

The Queer Graphic Design Project seeks to collect and archive graphic work from the LGBT liberation movement.  Using existing LGBT archives, the Queer Graphic Design Project seeks to view the LGBT movement through graphic and visual production as a means for queer visibility.

From famous examples such as the 1987 Act Up “Silence=Death” AIDS activism poster to queer zines of the 90s, the project seeks to unravel a queer graphic narrative that corresponds with gay oppression and liberation.

QSPACE seeks collaborators on this project: graphic designers, visual studies historians, queer historians, zine creators, etc.
